C1 Chiropractic Health Centre Consultation

C1 Chiropractic Health Centre Consultation

Pre-consultation
The first thing you will need to do is fill in one of our health questionnaires.  If you like, we can e-mail this to you before you arrive so that you can complete it in your own time.

The Consultation - Taking your medical history
You will then meet your selected therapist, say Martin, one of the chiropractors, who will use the form as a basis to start asking you about what has happened to you in the past and what’s brought you into the health centre.

Physical examination
He will then carry out a full neurological and orthopaedic examination. This will usually start with a general physical examination then move onto a more detailed chiropractic examination of the problem area. Once these examinations are complete he will carry out a detailed analysis to identify your precise problem.
All of the therapists will need to see the problem area and you will need you to remove your clothes, usually down to your underwear. We will of course provide hospital type gowns and a changing room if you require but we’d recommend that you wear sports kit as that is often adequate and is far more comfortable than a gown.

Report of Findings
We are very conscious that sometimes you can feel that you are not being informed what is exactly wrong with you, what the cause is and what can be done about it.  So, before we treat you we will give you a form with all this detail on it so you can make judgments about your care. This will have the following answers set out on it – what’s wrong with you (in clear language so that everyone can understand it), what we think we can do to help you and how often we think you’ll need to see us and so how much it’ll cost and what you can do to help the treatment at home or at work.

We will talk to you about the diagnosis and give you time to ask any questions. We will suggest a treatment plan which may involve some of out other therapies, if it is appropriate. An example of this would be offering spinal rehabilitation if you have a low back injury as we want to prevent reoccurrence and rehabilitation is one of the best ways to achieve this goal.

Treatment
If we can we will try to treat you on the first visit but it may be that we need time to research our diagnosis or confer with our colleagues and will call you back in later that day, the next day or in a few day’s time.
